Headed by Australian born Intuitive Abstract artist Marianne Le Cheaf, Das Ist Maurice integrates mixed media art with luxurious textiles and well thought out construction to bring about a redefined movement of childrens wear. How clothing makes a child feel, think and imagine will now take precedence over all else.

OUR STORY

Conceived in the notion that children deserve to feel brave and courageous in their clothing, Das Ist Maurice came about during our family travels through Munich, thus the ‘Das Ist’, which directly translates to This is.

We witnessed a representation of children we hadn’t encountered before. There, they were independently free thinkers. Encouraged to speak their truths and their opinions. The museums and galleries were filled with children rather than adults, diagnosing and deconstructing the art they were faced with.

There they understand and reinforce the integral role art plays in the early development of children, the ways in which it has shown to stimulate cognitive brain function, while promoting social-emotional and multi-sensory skills.

We came back energised. As parents, we knew we had an indispensable responsibility to nurture those gorgeous little minds, to inspire our children to think, feel and imagine for themselves. To brave the world and its never-ending stimuli and be effectively capable of forming intrinsic opinions about what they see around them.

So, if we understand that art has this innate power to energise
young, glorious minds, to help inspire the free-thinking adults of the future, why aren’t our children wearing it? Why aren’t they wearing art? An ironic notion, combining the sacrality of art with everyday children’s wear.

Imagine! Imagine the monumental impact this would have on our children, and the children around them. Being encouraged to form opinions and truths on the abstract art they see? Imagine the conversations? Imagine the sparks we begin to ignite? Wearable art designed to inspire children to think, feel and imagine brave. Now imagine that.
